Rather recently in the grand scheme of things I took up dog grooming as a profession. I must admit I do enjoy the process as you can learn as much about a dog from grooming as you can from a forest by looking at the trees.

Grooming has a great many perks. I enjoy it most days. I get to work with mostly dogs as opposed to mostly people. It's amazing how much you can tell about a dog from how its coat and condition is. Do they feed you a good diet? Do they walk you? Do they brush you? Did you come from a reputable source? Are you an inside dog? Has anyone bothered to train you? What do your people hope, dream and aspire for you? Usually within the confines of my glass aquarium at work called the grooming salon life is fairly pleasent. Most people care about their pets and bring them to me every other month for a clip or a bath.

My eventual goals with grooming is to build into my own business focusing on high end clients and results. Not that I don't enjoy shaving shih tzus, I just like to hone a craft into something amazing. There is history, culture, controversy, and vice in the history of dogs and the groomers tools and stylings are ink in the nib of dog culture.
